Re: Tim Hauser - Manhattan Transfer - R.I.P.
Val - it's too bad you caught them on a bad night. I saw them a long, long time ago (3-4 decades!), up close and personal, in a small theater and they were amazing. Very special. don't feel badly for me, Chazro, as I heard the group in their first and second incarnations many times when they were f...

Re: Has Anyone Congratulated Our Peterdubya?
my newest favorite female vocalist is appearing next month: Cecile McLorin Salvant!
it's a bit ironic that Manhattan Transfer are also booked for November.
lots of good folks are booked, be they jazz, close to jazz, or not jazz! LOL!

Re: Food For Thought
Portland, Maine has a great food scene so I was excited to be there for a wedding. The wedding actually took place in Falmouth, just north of Portland. As a prelude to the wedding celebration we hung out in and around Portland. I was on my own on our first night in Portland due to Joanne being a li...

I LOVE cabbage! of course, I've steamed them mostly but also sautéed them as well. love them with at least some of the following: soy sauce, garlic, ...

Re: Comedian Joan Rivers Hospitalized
she is in an induced coma and on life support. although I am not exactly a fan, I am praying for her to come out of this and not be disabled. a friend of mine has been working for Melissa (and Joan) for many years so I feel somewhat connected to the family. I know Joan has treated my friend very well.

in the early to mid-sixties, Betty Bacall actually called my apartment in the wee hours of the morning. at the time, I was dating an actor who was performing with Jason Robards on Broadway. apparently Jason hadn't made it home this night and had locked himself in his dressing room and was tying on a...

Re: Kenny Drew Jr. RIP
I always "saw" and felt his "troubled soul". I wouldn't be surprised at all if it had something to do with his leaving us. and maybe the date wasn't a coincidence. someone heard him play with great gusto a very short time ago. the thought just makes things sadder.

I would vote not to do that. I think they deserve to stay individualized, unless it will cause some kind of technical difficulty.
sorry, Ron, I think I misunderstood. you're probably talking about making a new topic for the threads.
